Fantasia takes over Convention Center

One minute Fantasia's testifying about love, the next minute she's crunk like she's in the club. At the Convention Center, fans loved it all. They sang, danced and clapped along to the "American Idol" winner's half-hour set.

Fantasia loves the stage. Wearing knee-high black boots -- that prevented her from doing a split -- she strutted, stalked and stomped across the stage in that Holy Spirit way that makes her one of R&B's most dynamic performers.

Viticus Thomas, 25, stood in the back with the JCSU band shouting and singing along with her.

"She's so beautiful," he said. "It's about time we got some good talent that came out of the Carolinas."

Before Fantasia could get fully pumped, she beckoned fans inside the Charlotte Convention Center to move closer to the stage. She needed to feel their love and fans wanted to be closer to her too. During the show, she told all her crunk fans to move toward the stage, but security said no because it was too crowded.

"It's the CIAA," one woman yelled. "Do the d--- thing."

Fantasia sang "Free Yourself" and "It's All Good," off her debut album. She also did a jazzy version of "Killing Me Softly." My favorite was the rap tune at the end. She said it was a tribute to North Carolina. One of her singers rapped and Fantasia and another woman she called G. led the crowd in this body-jerk dance that was accompanied by a handclap. The rap was so-so, but the beat was something you'd expect from Missy Elliott, and teaming it with the dance made it even better.

Sorry skipper, I think she's here to stay, and thank goodness!

How dare she encourage single mothers! Dear God that's so wrong!

So anyway, thanks Tonya, your review was awesome!

Do you know what other events Fantasia will be at in the next few days?

Thanks!

Great article on Fantasia!! I will ignore the "Ignorant Poster" above.

I love you Fantasia, you keep doing what you do.

You encourage all of the real people, that realize that life is full of choices. You make them, you learn from your mistakes, and you move on.

That is what life is all about.

Those like the poster above, who wishes for all who make mistakes to wallow in their sorrows. Yo my dear need a lot of prayer.

Fantasia came out with her story and she is making changes in her life.

Therefore she is a role model!!

No one lives in a glass house.

So don't throw bricks boo, cause that brick my hit you in the head one day!

Thanks for writing the article. I heard a little bit thanks to a friend calling me and the crowd was hype. She'll be around for a long time so those wishing otherwise need to find a hobby.

Skipper, you better make that 15 minutes-- 15 years. Because she's not going anywhere for a long time. It's idiots like yourself that keep her striving. God has his hands over Fantasia's future, so immature jealous people like you won't stop anything. Go pray instead of sitting on the computer hating all day.

Grow up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sitting behind an computer desk and putting someone down you don't know is just ignorant.

Skipper,

Sorry to disappont you but her 15 minutes will not be up anytime soon because when you are gifted and talented like she is, you don't fade away, you just get better and better. Also, you are still one of the ignorant ones out there that speak before you get the facts. She is not "illiterate", and she is a great mother to her precious daughter.

actually, she is illiterate. She admitted it on 20/20. She may have a future doing voiceovers for cartoons but the music business??

Nope. She's already done. Outside of African American events like this CIAA Tourney,NAACP rallies, and singing the National anthem at Charlotte Krunk games, and all the fatheaded drones who watch American Idol, no one is keeping up with what she's doing.

Despite what everyone says, she's a terrible role model, that doesnt help black america's image at all. Some uneducated teenage mom who's too stupid to use birth control. She deserves zero credit, and certainly shouldn't be looked up to by young people.

Actually Fantasia is the best thing to happen to the music industry *PERIOD* 15 minutes?
I DON'T THINK SO. :-)

Fantasia is the best thing to happen to the music industry *period* 15 minutes? I DON'T THINK SO! She's a legend in the making and you Skipp-O my dear are missing out on it. Stop hating because whether you like it or not, Fantasia is hear to Stay! :-)

Actually Orlando/Skipper(Yes it is so obvious that you are the same person.), if you read as much as you hate you would know that she never stated she was illiterate. You my friend are just bitter & unhappy with your own life. Fantasia was just performing on the Grammy stage & singing the National Anthem @ Nascar, if those are black events I must be missing something. You will get used to seeing her, because she's isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Tonya thanks for the great review. Fantasia is awesome. I can't wait for CD #2, she is well on her way. I feel so blessed to be a fan of hers.

There will alway be ignorant, self-righteous people like Skipper that will always look at someone else's flaws and mistakes rather than to look at themselves in the mirror. I guess that's to make themselves feel better, because truth be told, they're probably not that happy with themselves. Here's a thought, Skipper, the next time you try to throw stones at someone else, how about checking yourself first.

unfortunately, as long as she can continue to use/sale her poor Wo/man story and dance like a chicken she will be around a bit longer than I had hoped for.

Orlando and Skipper

I would love to meet you and then we all could realize who the uneducated one is. You are ignorant and lack the character there of. Not only are you ungrateful, you try to put down somebody who is better than you. When you become a star over night and become a role model for millions then you talk. Until then you need to check yourself and realize that majority of these people on this comment board are better than you. If you act like she hasn't contributed to the African American society, maybe you are the one who is illiterate. Skipper what makes you an expert on what a baby mother is, hell you probably cant even get a girl, let alone have someone to have your child. Grow up and stop hating and then maybe you will accomplish something in your own life!
