Stank staff

I don’t know what’s up with Time Lounge, but some of its Tuesday night staff needed an attitude adjustment.

Outside the front door, a security guard dressed in black (including a Neoprene face mask, though it wasn’t that cold) looked as if he was itching for a fight. I tried to make small talk, but he just demanded my I.D. On the other hand, Mr. Tough Guy was totally friendly with the group of giggly girls behind me.

Service at the bar wasn’t much better. Though the club wasn't crowded, it took forever to get a drink; when I finally got one, the bartender acted as if it were a
chore.

I chatted with a couple of guys here from Boston who received the same treatment. They said bartenders in Boston are always rude, so they were used to the behavior.

I don’t always expect a Coke and a smile, but I also don't expect the staff to act stank -- especially when the place isn’t packed.

Have you been to any bars or clubs where the service has been less than pleasant? If so, what's your story? Post your reply below.

I have not had bad service in particular but had GREAT service at Tailgater's at Exit 23 in Huntersville. Also got to meet Muggsy Bogues, which for a native Charlottean who remembers the days of 'Zo, LJ, & Muggsy was SO GREAT! The wait staff was prompt, the food was delicious, hostess was nice, and the bartender gave service with a smile and appropriate conversation (not too invasive, not too distant). Great experience, next time go there instead of that place you went to before!

you get crappy service because people know exactly who you are.

Stank? Stank?! STANK?!? The things you write never cease to amaze me. Is it ever appropriate, as a journalist or even a blogger to use Stank?!? Absurd! So innapropriate for such a forum. Unreal. And I agree with Mr. Afternoon, I'm sure if you're as angry and bitter when you arrive (even so far as to be angry about the fact that the bouncer was trying to stay warm...is that so wrong??) then it's no surprise that you get bad service and people overlook you for those with a sunnier disposition.

If anything is stank, it's your column and your word choice.

Did a little research on the "word" "stank." I logged onto the Oxford English Dictionary (as good of a resource as there could be). There are a few entries for "stank" therein. First, as an adjective, it can be used to mean "weary, faint, exhausted" (this usage is rare or obsolete) although that would have worked (possibly) for your column, the context seems to imply it means something else. As a noun, it could refer to either a pond or a dam-again, rare usage in modern English. Finally, as a verb, it means to shore up the edges of a pond or stream.

Doesn't seem like you were using that word in accordance with any documented English usage-I guess you were just trying to show how urban and "hip" you are.

Way to go.

The attitude at Time Lounge matches it's current clientele.

Disrespectful, dumb, no communication skills, and just an overall bad attitude.

Why are you asking questions you already know the answer to?

I think it's too late anyway, but if you want people to start taking you seriously you need to drop the retarded urban slang. Educated people don't talk (or write) like that.

You're a disgrace to the city. Go back to DC, homegirl.

A race-baiting bigot like Tonya Jameson is accusing someone else of needing an 'attitude adjustment'??

Good luck finding someone who cares.

Is this really about Time Lounge, or is this some sort of misdirected lesbian anger??

You look like a 17 year old boy/ hiphop mallrat. You have a mohawk. There are pretty girls behind you. Fellows working 'security' aren't known for their conversational skills.

Taking all this into account, just how do expect to be treated??

Your look, attitude, and personal baggage are your crosses to bear, not ours.

Stop whining.

Yes, I had bad service as plenty of uptown restaurants and clubs and that's why I no longer go to them. People still give money to establishments that don't respect them and that's what's really stank! As well as the ignorant responses to this blog. If you don't like Tonya, why read her stuff? This isn't in the paper, you made the decision to log on, click this link and read. I guess you all are products of CMS.

Wow..I'm glad I stay home.
