The other article that caught my attention was the increase in drug use among Baby Boomers ages 50 to 59. Apparently, this is the third consecutive year that this age groups has seen an increase in drug use.
It’s ironic. The same age group that lived it up in the ’60s with acid and weed, then jumped on the "Just Say No" campaign in the ’80s is now saying yes. Hmm. Could it be too much disposable income? Or maybe in the never-ending quest to be young some Baby Boomers are trying to relive their youth.
What are anti-drug crusaders going to do? Afterall, it’s no secret that drug use can lead to promiscuous sex. Will we one-day see an increase in HIV infection among Baby Boomers?
The anti-drug folks ought to act quickly before this gets of out hand. They should revamp their TV commercials. Maybe show adult children talking to their Baby Boomer parents about drugs? How about dusting off the "this is your brain on drugs" campaign? It could feature a suburban housewife in her McMansion.
What do you think? Why are more Baby Boomers are getting high and what can we do to save them? Post your replies below.

Your sardonic, unfunny comments on the subject reveal your bigotry and fact you aren't taking this seriously, anyway.. "Suburban Housewives", "McMansion". Give it a rest, Tonya. If it doesn't effect blacks or women or black women it's all a big freakin' joke to you. Tacky.
Besides, you completely miss the point and completely skew it so others will miss it as well, with all your jargon about "HIV infection rates".. Please!
Boomers are smoking marijuana and drinking more alcohol than previous generations. It's completely logical, has less to do with them as people and has more to do with that generation's culture and it's attitude towards recreational drugs, not to mention other factors like the Vietnam war..
Not to mention these statistics are largely based on age demography from drug rehab centers.. Go into a rehab center and say "I think I have a problem." Well , sure of course you do, they say.. Like taking a 12 year old kid to the orthodontist and asking them if he needs braces.. Of course they do! The point is, the definition of an "addict" is largely subjective, kind of like all these pitiful musings of yours.
These people aren't dropping acid like you suggested, smoking rocks or shooting heroin in squalid abandoned buildings. Thats what "your people" are doing.
These boomers are smoking a little dope and generally not bothering anybody , unlike the menacing black thugs that push poison to our school-aged children, as depicted on your favorite show "The Wire".
You constantly remind us you don't use facts to back up any of these well beyond your field of expertise subjects you so frequently opine about. Try fiction for a change, you're pretty damn close to it anyhow, with all your base notions and biased assumptions.
I would say stick to writing about nightlife, but you proven time and time again you can't do that worth a $@*! either.
Please , go somewhere else with this foul-smelling pile of pablum you call your career and take it somewhere else. We've had enough of your routine here in Charlotte.
Wow Zach, while you may disagree with Tonyas blog it's not right to suggest that all black people sell drugs. Ive seen drug dealers come in many races. If your gonna pick on Tonya focus on her dont throw jabs into black people because she falls under that indentity group. Like said show facts with your statements.
